Sambal Oelek

Hot chilli sauce. This recipe will make approx. ¼ cup of sauce.
  • 100g red chillies
  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ teaspoon himalayan salt
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (optional)
  • 15g ginger, roughly chopped
  1. Cut the stalks off the chillies and place into a saucepan together with the water.
  2. Place on medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure that the chillies do not stick to the bottom of the saucepan.
  3. Slowly remove the chillies and place straight into a food processor.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients into the food processor and blend.
  5. Leave mixture to cool, then place in an airtight container or glass jar and place in the fridge.
