Cacao, blueberries and pomegranate are all high in anti-oxidents.
When combined together you get a lovely choc-berry taste. They also taste fantastic when blended together in a smoothie.
This Choc Blueberry & Pomegranate Smoothie is one of my favourite morning smoothies.
If you don’t wish to use coconut milk, you can substitute with almond milk.
If you don’t like the choc-berry taste, you can make a delicious blueberry & pomegranate smoothie by leaving out the cacao powder and replacing it with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
COST SAVING TIP
When pomegranates are in season, you can remove the pomegranate seeds (referred to as arils), place them in an airtight container and freeze them until needed. Just be sure that the ariels are dry when you freeze them – this will ensure the arils freeze separately and will prevent them from freezing together into one solid block.
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup fresh (or frozen) pomegranate arils
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 3 cubes of ice (or ¼ cup cold water)
- 1 medjool date (seed removed)
- 2 teaspoons raw cacao powder
- Place all ingredients into the blender.
- Blend until smooth. Enjoy x M
