Cheap nuts in Brisbane

hellene Eating Paleo can be expensive… particularly if you try purchasing everything from Coles and Woolworths.

If you are in Brisbane, it is worth visiting Hellene’s Food Brokers located at 17 Duncan Street in West End. They are open Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm and also open on Saturdays between 8am and 2pm.

Hellene’s is a small shop tucked away in West End. You will find a variety of nuts, seeds, dried fruits and flours sold in 500g and 1kg packages often much cheaper than you can find anywhere else.  The prices are much cheaper because Hellene’s buy in bulk and then re-package which enables them to sell a variety of nuts, flour, seeds and dried fruits at a discounted price.

It is worth visiting to stock up on a variety of nuts and paleo friendly flours…

To give you an idea of the prices, I visited Hellene’s last Saturday (15 November 2014) and wrote down the prices of a variety of foods so that you can compare:

Raw Almonds $11.99 / kg

Raw Cashews $12.50 / kg

Raw Walnuts  $14.99 / kg

Raw Macadamia Nuts (half kernels, not whole) $22.95 / kg

Almond Meal $12.95 / kg

Coconut Flour $7.99 / kg

Chopped Dates $2.95 / kg

Baking Powder (Gluten Free) $18.00 / kg

Tapioca Flour $3.50 / kg
