I am a busy, single, female professional with a somewhat demanding career and a “not so secret” passion for cooking and motivational speaking. I hope to inspire and motivate others to adopt a healthier lifestyle by proving that you really can make healthy “clean food” meals (and treats) which are absolutely finger lickin’ delicious.
In October 2013, I decided to try out a strict paleo (detox) diet for a short period of 21 days as a personal challenge. I won’t lie, the first week was extremely difficult… but mid way through week two I was feeling so unbelievably fantastic! Day 22 never did arrive as I decided to adopt the paleo diet as part of my lifestyle.
Being perfectly honest, adopting the paleo diet as part of my lifestyle has been extremely rewarding and life changing. I have more energy than I ever had before, I am much happier, healthier and stronger than I was before and I no longer suffer from extremely painful period pain (a condition which I have struggled with for as long as I can remember) – this by itself continues to amaze me. The most noticeable difference to my friends and family has been my weightloss. The photo on the left was taken prior to adopting a paleo lifestyle. I have since lost over 20kg (and over 40cm off my waist) in the first 5 months and my weightloss journey continues.
Every now and then I will have a glass of red wine or a non-paleo meal because sometimes with social events (such as weddings and parties) it is hard to avoid. But I don’t enjoy it as much as I can really notice a difference in how I feel afterwards – more tired, bloated and generally unwell.
From personal experience, I have learnt that a change in your diet truely can make an amazing difference to how you feel and the quality of your life. Hopefully my story and recipes will inspire you to eat clean food and has motivated you to be happier, healthier, stronger. You have nothing to lose – it may be an equally rewarding experience for you, as it was for me.
After all, clean food does not have to be bland and boring… with a little planning and a pinch of creativity in the kitchen.. you can create some seriously delicious clean food which is fit for a princess…
